This session is intended for teachers who have attended district-sponsored training in the Lucy Calkins Units of Study for Writing (local or New York).
During this session, teachers will learn how to further develop a writerly life for their student writers. The workshop will focus on the following:
  • Reviewing the architecture of a minilesson with an emphasis on ways to effectively coach students through modeling good writing
  • Introducing the architecture of conferring and small group work
  • Using strategies and tools to support the planning of the Narrative Unit
  • (Option for teachers to bring Narrative On-Demand assessments): Exploring how to use the Narrative Learning Progression and Annotated Student Writing Samples to understand how to score On-Demand assessment
